Listen. Can you hear it? That noise outside… a powerful wind!
A few days ago a powerful wind storm blew through our area in Southern Ontario. Winds topping 100 km/h knocked down trees and cut off power for many people. Trees were uprooted and snapped like twigs, hydro wires damaged, and cars crushed like tin cans.
And the winds we experienced weren’t even close to hurricane force!

Wind is one of the ways that God displays His power and reminds us that He is powerfully in control and not a God to be ignored.
He is great and reveals His greatness to us by wind and storm so that people would acknowledge Him as God, and even return to Him.
He is the One who created the wind designing it for many purposes….. even for us to tap into as a resource.
“He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals his thoughts to man, he who turns dawn into darkness, and treads the high places of the earth — the LORD Almighty is his name.” Amos 4:13
This LORD Almighty is poetically pictured in the Bible as one who holds “the wind in storehouses”, sending it where He wishes:
“He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.” Psalm 135:10
Jesus, who came as God in the flesh, revealed Himself as having that same greatness. He calmed a raging storm right in front of their eyes of His disciples. Terrified, they asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” Mark 4:41.
Here is Jesus, the One who DOES control the climate!
Wind is created by God, included in his design of the earth’s climate. It is totally subjected to his bidding; He sends it where He wills. As you hear and experience the wind in your life, may it serve as a reminder of God’s greatness. He continues in this way to remind us of who He is and wants to draw us close to Him.
