Multitasking?

Of course…… we think we can do this. Multitask.

Divide our attention and still be effective. Attempting to “use many tools” at once.

But wait,

……… here’s a powerful quote from Walter Brueggemann:

“Multitasking is the drive to be more than we are, to control more than we do, to extend our power and our effectiveness. Such practice yields a divided self, with full attention given to nothing.”

Imagine that. A divided self… with full attention given to nothing.

In a world of being busy… too busy… we might consider to embrace single-tasking.

And the art of being fully present.

Who or what needs your full attention?

  1. Very applicable points to ponder. Guilty here on all accounts… this is harder for some than for others to control.. the need to be doing everything at once maybe because we’ve made too many promises or we like to be heard, for whatever reason it is usually selfish reasons and probably not God glorifying reasons that we divide our attention instead of focusing on the task at hand so you do the best you to God’s glory and to the benefit of our neighbor(s)
