All rivers need a reliable source. Leadership needs the same.
Have you ever considered that all worthwhile leadership principles have their source in the Bible?
Think about it. All of them. Any trait you want to attribute to leadership you will find in the Bible.
Exemplified in the person of Jesus Christ as the perfect Servant Leader.
Consider what Jesus says…
42 So Jesus called them (his disciples) together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them.
43 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else.
45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:42-45 NLT
Notice the contrast. And the example of Jesus.
Challenging.
Imagine a little more servant leadership from those who are in authority over us.
Imagine a little more servant leadership as you and I lead.
Leadership is influence…….Christ-like intentional influence.
But possible.
If we lead, we must ask this Lord and Leader, Jesus, to be the Lord and Leader of our life as He did indeed give His life for ours.
Once we understand this, and submit to His gracious servant Lordship and Leadership, He will equip us to lead others, following in His ways.
