There’s this strange case of hate amongst us:
“Let’s not hate. It’s not accepted.”
It’s the thing we aim to eradicate.
Except….while we eradicate,
it’s the very thing we demonstrate.
And often even communicate.
It sounds so lovely,
but really isn’t.
When we push out others,
for this agenda we make.
We say it’s the white man,
the black, or the brown.
Or the straight.
Or the woman.
It’s him….
It’s her…
on them do we frown.
It’s them we need to eliminate.
How dare you disagree?
But as we push and infiltrate,
what we see
is another mess we make.
To eliminate another
as if they’re the problem,
puts us out front
in a new show of hate.
Only to wait…
For the next strange case of hate
to come and state
that we are now the problem
to eliminate.
The whole thing —
a fierce cycle
you won’t obliterate.
Stop.
Look deeper.
The problem is not the color of our skin…
It’s not whether we are next of kin.
The problem
is the problem within.
Such within
is the problem of sin.
It’s the one we fear most
because we “hate” looking in….
Me.
Go to the mirror
and what do I see?
The problem
and source
of all enmity.
I want what you have
and you want what’s mine.
Contentment is fleeting
if left undefined.
We must repent.
In this strange case of hate,
we are grasping for love.
But…
Love is not love
unless you seek it above.
What we are to love
and how we are to love
is ordered by
the One who sits above.
The One whose very Name
is Love.
God.
God is Love.
He’s the One who demonstrated,
the true meaning of Love perpetuated.
He gave His own Son,
that we might not die,
…..going through life
living this lie:
this strange case of hate.
Jesus calls us
to a different way.
To repent,
walk anew,
and start a new Day.
That breaks the cycle.
And then we will see,
that hate has no place
when He sets you free.
The way through Him
is the true way to love.
