Two years ago, I wrote this poem thinking that if various books and movies were being cut and cancelled, it would only be a matter of time before the Bible ended up on that same chopping block.
With the recent condemnation of the Bible by Quebec Liberal politician Marc Miller, it seems that he — and much of his party — would very much like to move things in that direction.
The Bible… a next cut? October 19, 2023
Interesting in all the mess, there’s a deeper current stirring.
Downward fast, it doesn’t stop… a current downright blurring.
Unhitched from God, that’s the game. The state will rise to power!
You and me, they’ll want to squash and see us cringe and cower.
If you see just one vaccine, you’re totally mistaken.
Another one, another one, another one, they’re makin’.
All the while let’s ‘cancel’ a book, a tale, a movie too.
Off the shelves — until it’s done — the Bible… they’ll come for you.
No, you say, it won’t be so, they’ll never do such a thing.
Why not? I say, it has no place, in a land bereft of King.
Who is this King you speak about; where can I find His Story?
Straight to the point, He’s Jesus Christ, known as the Lord of glory.
He came to earth to shine the light in challenging dark places.
He made the world, inspired this book… the Bible as a basis.
To tell His Story, how we fit in, and redeem us from this mess.
The world did not accept this King, and hung Him in its distress.
And here we sit in course of time, we have replaced the King.
We, the people, the “ruling power” with ‘cancelling’ our thing.
No longer does His message matter, nor do the ones who bring it.
The Bible now, will be the cut…. into the fire they’ll fling it.
Wait you say, don’t toss that book, it speaks of our salvation.
Don’t be fooled, they’ll toss you too, when proclaiming to this nation.
And to close it today…
Take heart my friend and do not fear; God is our strength and power.
He knows our foe, He knows our time; He’ll deliver us from this hour.
For they exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. — Romans 1:25 (NASB 1995)
